A Flail Chest occurs when multiple adjacent ribs are broken in multiple places, separating a segment, so a part of the chest wall moves independently. This independent movement is known as Paradoxical motion.

Blunt chest trauma would be the injury and paradoxical motion would be the symptom.

the options to this question actually don't make sense. Flail chest movement is when three or more adjacent ribs are fractured in at at-least two places causing paradoxical motion, caused by blunt chest trauma.
